[Fixed] VLC Subtitle Delay Issue - How to Adjust/Sync Subtitles with Video in VLC

When you play a movie with subtitles on VLC, the text is often displayed too soon or too late, You wonder if there is a way to fix the VLC subtitle delay or any software which could do this?

There are loads of chances when the subtitles are either lagging behind or leading ahead a movie in VLC media player, which drives you in a miff in particular you are watching a foreign film. Luckily, this player offers a nifty feature that lets you fix VLC subtitle delay issue. There is another easier way to fix VLC subtitle delay easily, by taking advantages of keyboard shortcuts H and G, to adjust subtitle delay during playback.

1. To delay a subtitle: Press G on your keyboard if the subtitle is ahead of the sound. You can delay a subtitle by 50 ms (millisecond) each. So if you want to slow the subtitle down by 0.5 seconds, hit G ten times. 
2. To speed up a subtitle: Use the key H to speed up the subtitle by 50 ms for every click. Press repeatedly or long press to advance the subtitle according to your needs.

Note: Generally, the subtitles sync well with the movie. But in rare cases, you run up against the VLC subtitle delay issue. If the subtitles perfect sync with the video in the beginning but go out-of-sync gradually or wrap up faster or slower than the video, the Speed of the subtitles option will be helpful. You can adjust the fps (frames per second) value to increase or decrease the subtitle appearing speed. For instance, for fast subtitles, decrease the fps value to keep pace with the video.

Google Web Designer: Design Tool to Create Interactive HTML5 Ads

If you follow Google’s development close enough, you probably know about this but if you don’t, the giant search engine company has recently launched a new tool call the Google Web Designer. In short – this is Google’s version of Adobe Flash. Only that the output is in HTML5 and CSS3, and it’s currently limited to creating ad banners.

As stated by Sean Kranzberg, Google Engineering Manager, in the announcement for the tool:

"We think that Google Web Designer will be the key to making HTML5 accessible to people throughout the industry, getting us closer to the goal of “build once, run anywhere".

Google Web Designer is available for Mac and Windows. Let’s see what this beta version of Google’s latest product has to offer.

Getting Started

We can create a new blank file for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and Google Ads, which provide a set of pre-defined ad size that is also the standard of the Google AdSense ad format. New file creation requires us to specify the document title, the name, saved location.

Animation Mode

This is something that we might not find in other web page creator applications – the Animation Mode.

There are two options in Animation Mode: Quick, which gives us simplified toolbar for creating basic animation, and Advanced, which will give us the advanced toolbar for arranging more complex animation. We can also opt between these modes when the file has been created.

Adding New Element

Google Web Designer provides a set of standard User Interface, which is easy to get accustomed to. The left toolbar lets you select tool sto add new element.s The default element generated would be the div element. But, you can have it changed.

1. Select the Tag Tool.
2. Go to the top toolbar, and select the Custom Element.
3. Specify the element you want to add.

On the toolbar to the right, you can modify the element’s property such as the padding, margin, dimension, border, as well as see all the CSS rules that are applied on the element.

I’m sure for most of you the Google search page is your start page, especially if your favorite browser is Chrome. You can upload more than one image and even leave it on random mode so your background will always change as you reload the page.

Not only that, with this extension you can personalize the Google search page. Choose to hide certain elements from the search page such as the Google logo, the "Lucky" button, the footer and much more. You also can adjust the position of your image.

Bored with the current image? Just click on "change background image" at the bottom left side of the page, and it will redirect you to the Settings page and you can make your changes there.

How To Add New "Send To" Destination (Right Click) In Windows | Hacking Is Magic

When transferring files out of your computer in Windows 7 or 8, you will normally right click on the required file, then select the ‘Send to’ option. You can then send the file via Bluetooth, third-party services like Dropbox or Evernote among a few other destinations.

However, some of these destinations may not be what you need or even use at all. Wouldn’t it prefer to customize these destinations as you like?

With a little tweak in Windows operating system you can add more locations to ‘Send to’ without the need of any external softwares.

Getting Started

To add more locations to the ‘Send to’ menu, search for ‘Run’ from the Windows Start Menu.

In the box that pops up, type ‘shell:sendto’ and press Enter.

You will arrive at a folder where you can add in your choice of destinations. To add, just drag and drop the location icon or copy and paste the shortcut of the destination you want.

Check to see if your destination as been added, just right-click on any file and hover over ‘Send to’.

You can insert as many destinations as needed under the ‘Send to’ option.

If you work on Dreamweaver a lot, you might like this particular tip we have for you. We found a way to change the HTML view on Adobe’s Dreamweaver into ‘night mode’, thanks to CS6Shortcuts.com.

This is a really cool trick for coders, designers or developers working on Dreamweaver. It works on Adobe Dreamweaver CS6, CS5.5, CS4, CS3 and on both Windows and Mac platforms. And if you don’t like it, it’s easily reversible.

Here’s how you set it up.

Changing Dreamweaver Coding Theme

First, you will have to download this Colors.xml file, the file that will change the colors of the HTML tags and its elements.

Replace Colors.Xml File

With Dreamweaver closed, navigate to the folder where the Colors.xml file is.

For Windows XP:

OS hard drive > Documents and Settings > [yourusername] > Application Data > Adobe > Dreamweaver > Configuration > CodeColoring.

For Windows Vista:

OS hard drive > Users > [yourusername] > Application Data > Adobe > Dreamweaver > Configuration > CodeColoring.

For Windows 7 & 8:

OS hard drive > Users > [yourusername] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Dreamweaver > en_US > Configuration > CodeColoring.

For Mac:

[username] > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Dreamweaver > en_US > Configuration > CodeColoring.

Upon entering the CodeColoring folder, you’ll see a single Colors.xml file.

Rename the file to Colors_Original.xml. By doing this, you can keep the original file, for if you want to revert to default settings.

Move or Copy and Paste the Colors.xml file into the same folder.

Changing Background Color

With the light colored text settings inserted, you will have to change the default background color of the code window from white to black.

To do this, open Dreamweaver and press Ctrl + U to open the Preferences. Look for Code Coloring on the right panel and change the Default Background color setting to something dark.

A pure black background might not work so well because it will contrast with the white text too much, so a color like #2B2E46 works really well; you can experiment with other dark colors to find one that suits you best.

Revert To Default Settings

If you do not really like the change, the process is easily removed.

Remove the just inserted Colors.xml file. Then, rename the Colors_Original.xml file to just Colors.xml.

Then in Dreamweaver, press Ctrl + U to open up the Preferences, click on Code Coloring on the right panel and change the Default Background from black to the color white.

Send And Share Files Up To 1TB With SoShare | Hacking Is Magic

Sending large files over the net is no longer a problem and for most of us, Cloud storage is the solution that helps you bypass uploading and downloading times. That said in many cases to do with file sharing, the process is limited by the file size itself. The media that we deal with nowadays are so ‘heavy’ that yes, we one day may have to think about ways to send files that are 1 terrabyte big.

Foreseeing this need, SoShare, a site powered by BitTorrent now offers you the option to send files up to 1TB in size. That’s 1024 Gigabytes (so you can skip googling it; you’re welcome). You don’t need an account and it is completely free to use now during its open beta phase.

Sending Files With SoShare

Head over to SoShare. Before you can add files to send, you will need to download and install SoShare for your browser first. You only need to install SoShare once in your system. SoShare works with:

• Chrome
• Safari
• Firefox
• Internet Explorer

To send your files, just type your email and your sender’s email. You can send the files to multiple recipients, just place a comma in between each email address. Then, click ADD FILES to start uploading the files you want shared.

You can add multiple files until you hit the 1TB limit, but of course, the bigger the file is the longer the time it needs for the upload. Upload speeds depend on your Internet connection. However, note that you can pause the download and resume where you left off later.

Multiple files will be bundled up so that the recipient can download all the files in a single click. Downloading the file also does not require any extra tools, just click to download.

When the recipient starts to download the file, SoShare will notify the sender via email. If you sent the files to multiple recipients it will notify you which one of your recipient is downloading the file.

Limitations & Conclusion

With SoShare your files will only be available for download for 30 days (1 TB is a lot) but it is a simple, disposable and great way of sending multiple heavy files in one go. It also has the option for you to make your files available to the public. Do keep in mind that SoShare is still in beta, so there might be more changes brewing behind the scenes.

Create GIFs Directly On Chrome With MakeGIF | Hacking Is Magic

What do you use to create a GIF (which is pronounced Jif, if you haven’t heard)? Most of us will use Adobe Photoshop or GIF-making tools that require you to download the video first. While desktop tools give users more options when creating GIF we have found a much easier way to create a GIF. 
                 
  MakeGIF is a Chrome Browser Extension that lets you create a GIF straight from a Chrome browser. You don’t have to download a video first or leave your browser.

Creating A GIF

To start, first you need to add MakeGIF to your Chrome browser after which you will find the icon for it on the right side of the URL bar.

Head over to your video site and click in to the video you want to make a GIF of. Choose the time in the video and pause the video there. Click on the MakeGIF icon.

Set the GIF quality, GIF size, capture FPS and max frames you want and click Start.

MakeGIF will start to capture the frames. Click on Done when you think the GIF should end. Before generating the GIF you can Add Text or Reverse the GIF under ‘Frame Options’. Click Generate GIF.

After generating the GIF you can share or save the GIF. For GIF sharing, the max GIF size share-able is 4 MB. If the GIF size is bigger than 4 MB the only option you have is to save the GIF into your hard disk.

Limitations

MakeGIF is definitely makes creating a GIF a breeze. But, there are some limitations:

• MakeGIF only works on HTML 5. YouTube HTML5 video player is still in testing phase but you can opt to join for the trial here.
• You can’t control the GIF speed as in you cannot speed it up or slow it down.
• There is no way to set when the text should appear. The text will be shown from the start to the end of the GIF.
• Think through what text you want to add, because you can’t undo it thereafter.

Automating Repetitive Windows Task With Folder Actions | Hacking Is Magic

Here’s the situation: you got back from an awesome vacation and want to organize your vacation photos but you have literally hundreds of photos to go through, renaming them,converting or compressing them and more. What if we told you that you don’t have to do everything single task on one file at a time.

On the Mac OS, there are built-in features to automate Folder Actions to help save time and reduce repetitive tasks. If you work on Windows, you can do the same with this tool called Folder Actions. Best of all, you can even carry out user-defined actions. Here is a walkthrough of the features of Folder Actions.

Getting Started

You can get started by downloading the software here. Don’t worry about how simple the site looks. The lack of a complicated design doesn’t diminish the purpose the site is there to serve.

Once you are done installing it, open Folder Actions and look for the ‘+‘ icon on the top left. Click on it to bring up a window where you can browse for the folder that you wish to use Folder Actions on.

Available Preset Actions

Once you have located your folder of files, here are some of the things you can do to the batch of files.

Rename Files: Renames files that are added into the folder. There is no batch rename support for now.

Convert Image Files: All your images can be converted to a different image format such as jpg, png, tif, gif and bmp with customized quality.

Convert Video Files: As for videos, conversions into MP4 iPhone, MP4 iPod, MP4 Blackberry, MP4 PSP, 3GP Mobile, FLV, AVI and MPEG are supported.

Convert Audio Files: You can convert your audio or video files into an audio format like mp3, wav and etc.

Compress or Decompress Files: Easily compress files into your chosen compress formats and automatically decompress any added compressed files in the folder. File formats supported for compression are .zip, .7z, .gzip, .tar. File formats supported for decompression are .zip, .7z, .rar, .arj.

User-Defined Actions

Apart from these preset actions you can enable more features through .bat files, or third-party scripts. For instance, here is an example where you can use an external script called Ghostscript to convert JPG files to PDF.

Advantages & Limitations

The good news is the tool is light on resources, even when converting/processing images or videos in the background. The software also has a very simple layout, and doesn’t require an Internet connection to work.

However, the number of things this tool can run is rather limited. Although you can solve that with the user-defined actions, not everyone is comfortable running .bat format files and scripts – a user-friendly UI would be better. Another thing is that while you can run two actions on the same folder (using the sub-folder feature), you will be prompted with an error message "File is in use" every time.

Conclusion

As you can see, users who have to do a lot of repetitive tasks on their laptop may find use for Folder Actions even though they will have to first find the script for that action.
